The GCC Network for Drylands Research and Development offers opportunities for sponsorship in relation to our first "International Symposium on Drylands Ecology and Human Security" (IDEHS) that will be held in Dubai, December 4-7, 2006.
We invite for all types of sponsorship, with preference for the described sponsor packages below. However we would also be pleased to discuss a package tailored to meet your specific requirements. The call for sponsorship is now open. Sponsors interested in the conference are asked to forward their proposal to us before November 1.

ISDEHS 2006 is meant to be the first of a series of symposia intended to create the necessary platform for an ongoing dialogue between researchers and policy makers from the Arab world with the global scientific community as well as to reposition the ongoing desertification debate within the context of human security. Our key objectives will aim at exploring and discussing critical topics confronting contemporary societies in drylands, arid, and semi-arid regions and bring together key stakeholders and experts from relevant fields to reach constructive solutions. In this respect we will be especially concerned with the in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment identified issues of concern. This would in our opinion help to reduce uncertainties regarding the relationships among desertification, climate change, biodiversity, ecosystem services and human well-being. Thus the conference is expected to become a key international annual event for drylands research.

For our “Pioneer Event” we expect some 350 international scientists, journalists, government officials and decision-makers, as well as representatives from leading private sector companies, institutes and non governmental organizations to attend.
