Our venue has changed and ISDEHS 2006 will now be held at the
Al Qasba Convention Center in Sharjah
(which directly flanks Dubai)
and is even closer to the center of Dubai than the previous venue.



The UN International Year of Deserts and Desertification offers a unique opportunity to not only discuss the global issue of desertification, but also to celebrate the diverse flora and fauna as well as desert societies and their rich heritage and culture.
ISDEHS promotes not only science, but also intercultural dialogue, since we strongly believe that the first step to finding solutions in regards to issues such as development, desertification and human security is to communicate across borders.

Thus to celebrate the end of the
IYDD in Sharjah, which was
 honored by the UNESCO as "The Cultural Capital of the Arab World" seems to be the perfect solution.
Within these surroundings we can share and explore all the wonderful knowledge and creativity that exists in the deserts.
